Other FAQs
Starting from the 2024-25 academic year, undergraduate residents whose residential experience equals to or exceeds the normative study period (“P”) minus one year (“P-1") will be given the lowest priority when applying for readmission.
For example, if you study in a four-year programme, you “P-1” threshold will be three years of residency. However, do note that meeting the threshold does NOT mean you automatically disqualify from readmission.
Special circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to the recommendations by the Master and endorsement from the Chairman and Vice-chairman of the Committee on Halls.
The simple answer is yes. You may refer to the steps below, depending on the length of your exchange:
One semester
Going in Semester 1
Apply for round 1 admission per usual procedure.
If the application is successful, reject the offer while indicating your situation clearly in the reply.
Inform the office at least two weeks in advance before your intended check-in date in semester 2.
Going in Semester 2
Apply for round 1 admission per usual procedure.
If the application is successful, accept the offer and inform the general office that you are leaving for exchange in the second semester.
Full-year exchange
You have the choice of whether to apply for readmission this year, although a successful one would definitely help on your return:
Option 1 - Apply for readmission
Apply in round 1 admission both this and next year.
If the application is successful, reject the offer while indicating your situation clearly.
Next year, before you return, apply in round 1 readmission again (around April usually). While a success in the past year does not guarantee a successful application, it will be taken as a plus.
Option 2 - Skip readmission
Skip round 1 readmission this year only apply for round 1 admission by the end of your exchange (usually around April).
In this case, you will be regarded as an applicant from outside LCC during our consideration.
Please refer to announcements from the JCSV III General Office in Semester 2 for details. Announcements are typically made around March.
You may still apply through the Central Clearing House. Applications are reviewed monthly but subject to availability of vacancies.
